The official kickoff for the effort to secure Denver as the site of the 2016 Republican National Convention begins Friday at the Brown Palace.

Democratic Gov. , former U.S. Sen. Hank Brown, a Republican, and other bold-faced names from both sides of the aisle will be present, organizers said. Former Congressman , a Republican, is chairing the effort.

Ryan Call, chairman of the Colorado Republican Party, has said having Denver as the site would be apropos because it will be “bookends of eight years of an Obama regime.” – Denver Post

Colorado will be a huge target for the Republicans in 2016. I think Denver has a very strong chance of winning the bid. The RNC will look to win back a swing state after losses in 2008 and 2012.

Denver proved it can handle the task with the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

One big question has to be asked. In a state where marijuana is legal and multiple mass shootings have occurred… does the GOP want any part of it?
