PA Voter ID Case: Simpson's Decision

by: DocJess

Wed Aug 15, 2012 at 11:52:15 AM EDT

Amazingly, Justdge Simpson decided to uphold the heinous voter ID law, saying:

"...plaintiffs did not establish that "disenfranchisement was immediate or inevitable."

Seriously?????

I haven't had time to read the whole decision yet, but will parse it tonight. For now, it all rests with Ron Castille

Been thinking about it........... (0.00 / 0)
Seems that there is a big loophole in most State's attempts to disenfranchise voters. That would be a massive absentee ballot voting this year. No ID required and would take longer for the results to be counted. I say flood the system with absentees...........

I was kind of surprised that the judge didn't take the easy way out and rule that PA could have the voter ID law, but that it would not be in effect this year to give everyone the time and opportunity to secure the required ID. Maybe he was just assuming that the provisional ballot thingy would not disenfranchise anyone. I think the PA ID law has that option. Correct me if I am wrong.

need a reason to vote absentee (0.00 / 0)
In order to vote absentee you must either be out of town on election day, or physically unable to make it to the polling place.  I suppose you could lie, but then you would be engaging in voter fraud...
