RTD will operate during Presidential Debate October 3rd.
The first Presidential Debate of the 2012 election is being held at the University of Denver Campus on Wednesday, October 3rd. RTD is planning to provide normal weekday service on all routes in the area. There will be closures, detours, and delays on the day of the debate and in the days leading up to the event, so we ask that passengers add more time to their commute and have patience due to the detours and unforeseen delays. We will continue to post updates to the RTD website, Facebook, and Twitter the day of the event.
Light Rail Service RTD plans to operate scheduled service throughout the entire light rail system, including service to/from the University of Denver Station. Passengers should expect to see enhanced security at RTD facilities and aboard RTD vehicles.
Bus Service Bus services in the vicinity of the University of Denver campus will experience detours due to street and highway closures. This will specifically include, but is not limited to the routes 24, P, and T. Other services throughout the region will experience impacts due to increased traffic congestion and the 5 pm-10 pm closure of Interstate 25 from Hampden Avenue to Sante Fe Drive. The route 21 may experience significant delays due to traffic congestion around the University of Denver campus. By 4 pm on Tuesday, October 2, the closure of Buchtel Boulevard will prevent the route 24 from serving the University of Denver Station. The route 24 will continue on University Boulevard without service to this station and stops along Buchtel Boulevard.
Park-n-Rides Parking is not advised at the University of Denver Park-n-Ride on Monday, October 1, and Tuesday, October 2. The Park-n-Ride will be closed on Wednesday, October 3. Commuters should plan on parking at other locations, including I-25/Broadway, Englewood, or Colorado on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
