| The Local Guys. These two young men live outside of Charlotte and came to celebrate Carolina Fest, although they won't be attending the convention. They are booth big Obama supporters, and would never miss an election. We had a nice chat which ended with a round robin of all the reasons that we were glad to be Democrats.
The Professional Journalist. This gentleman did not want his name or his publication mentioned. (Trust me, you've read it.) Ergo, no photo. He was the epitome of the hard boiled editor who has seen it all before, and is just plain tired. He gave me a lot of tips about how to get free food from the TV media areas, and couldn't quite understand my enthusiasm. "it doesn't become a woman of your years," he said. The Young Guns. These 20-something's are working on Paul Sadler's senate campaign. The are part of the Texas delegation. They are filled with passion and drive, but a sense that losing is inevitable. I have a lot of hope for these kids: this campaign will make them stronger for the next one, and the demographics of the state will also bring needed change. The young woman is from Hildalgo County, and she and I had a chat about how her county has the worst healthcare in the entire United States. The Voters. The woman on the left is from North Carolina, the woman on the right is also from NC, but currently living in Virginia. Both a fired up and ready to go, but it turns out that with the new Voter ID law in VA, the younger one will not be able to vote. no worries, I'd gave her my card and will help her get it sorted out. The Disaffected Voter. Again, someone who didn't want his picture taken. This gentleman lives in Charlotte, supported Obama in 2008, but is thinking of not voting this November. We had a long conversation about the ACA: he feels that it will not work because of the consolidation of insurance companies. I was able to explain to him how the ACA circumvents those issues, and pointed out the rebates that were sent this year, of which he'd been uniformed. And finally...I have no idea who these people are, I just asked if I could take their pictures...it wouldn't be a convention without hats!
