DNCC names Microsoft official software provider for Denver
WE’VE MOVED! Democratic Convention Watch is now at http://www.DemocraticConventionWatch.com
On Monday the DNCC announced that they had selected Microsoft to be the official “software and HD Web content provider” for the Denver convention. This will be a big-time coming out party for Silverlight, Microsoft’s content platform to compete with Adobe’s Flash.
Microsoft will also be providing real-time online voting systems for the delegates on the convention floor, as well as gavel-to-gavel streaming coverage at the convention website, DemConvention.com. We’ve been impressed with the quality and depth of the Democratic Convention website so far, hopefully this will be a positive enhancement for folks who can’t attend in person to experience the event through the Web.

Ugh. Corporate sponsorship of the conventions is corrupting, and having it be Microsoft just adds to my disgust.
Seriously guys. Al Gore is on the fricking board of something called Apple Computers, maybe you’ve heard of it?
Seriously…if this doesn’t illustrate how badly the country needs campaign finance reform, I don’t know what would. You know, the Republicans are really rich, maybe they can be the official sponser of the Democratic convention.

PReader, I don’t understand your point. There’s a huge difference between a former politician sitting on the board of a company and having a company funding the party’s convention.
I’m just saying that Microsoft is a terrible company with terrible proudcts–and one of the Democratic luminaries has an inside track to a company that is the complete opposite.
